When reality meets fiction: Bye Bye €uro airs July 12th on France 5!
July 7, 2015
At a time when European leaders are considering the ‘Grexit’ scenario, our fictitious documentary which imagines what would happen if France were to abandon the €uro will air on July 12th at 10.50 pm on France 5.
When this ‘fictitious documentary’ was created last winter, we did not expect such a scenario to turn into reality just a few months later…
In this ‘what if’ film, Italy, and then France, would exit the Eurozone. In reality, this week, Greece is facing this possibility. As a result, our case study has never been more relevant: what if France were, in turn, to find itself in this situation?
With incredible realism, our film recounts the potential consequences of such a decision, not only for its public and market finances, but also for the daily lives of the French people.
Besides ‘man on the street’ interviews, prominent officials will also weigh in: economists, journalists, CEOs… They will respond as if it were already happening and describe how various spiraling steps and domino effects would proceed as a new order gets established.
Directed by talented Ella Cerfontaine, the film is surprising by its realism. With dramatic intensity, it goes beyond the macroeconomic concepts to successfully delve into the real impact on the daily life of individuals, and the effect is suspenseful and breathtaking for the viewer.
This is an entirely new format for television, which illustrates a potential scenario with a simulation which demonstrates in a realistic manner what could happen. It is designed to provide viewers all the information they need to formulate their own opinions in light if the current events.
