The newspaper Libération interviews leading producers about Bruno Patino’s nomination as new Head of Programming for the French public channels.
Simone Halberstadt Harari focused on the importance of publicly-financed channels to counterbalance the purely commercial imperatives of the private sector. She believes budget cuts should not be the only driving factor in defining a program strategy if the channels are to meet the expectations of the public.
“The public sector has a specific mission which ought to be protected. It includes reaching the largest audience with diverse genres and programs that are innovative, bold and express fully the creativity of its talent”.
